Laundry Care
Caring for your GreenPomelo®:
Pre-Wash
It is recommended that a pre-wash would be required for two reasons:
* to remove any residues from the manufacturing process.
* to help absorbency levels of the nappy. The nappy will reach its maximum absorbency within 1-2 washes, as GreenPomelo® is 100% polyester with Breathable Waterproof PUL outer layer and the insert soaker is microfibre. Like new towels, new nappies need to be washed through a few times to fluff them up and improve their absorbency. If baby wets in a brand new nappy the wetness will simply run off the surface rather than soaking in.
Wash deep coloured nappies and white nappies separately for the first 1-2 washes to avoid colour run.
Please bear in mind that nappies cannot be returned once they have been washed.
So my baby pooped.
GreenPomelo® nappies are single use nappies. Wash both the GreenPomelo® nappy and insert after each use.
Using liners is an option that is available to you, this just make it easier for you to simply remove the liner and the poop, as one, and then flush them down the toilet. Otherwise you could just need to scrap the poop off the nappy with a bit of tissue paper. The nappy is now ready to be stored in a nappy bucket or waterproof bag ready for the next wash.
There are two types of liners, reusable and disposable ones. The ones that we have in stock at the moment are the disposable biodegradable Bamboo liners. These flushable liners should only be flushed one at a time. If just wet, they can be rinsed through, dried and used again. Wet-only liners can also be composted.

Washing/Drying your GreenPomelo®:
You may need to pull out the insert of the nappy before it goes into the washing machine as not all cycles will agitate the inserts enough to cause them to come out on their own.
The velcro style have been designed with 'fold-back tabs' - these prevent the velcro from sticking to other delicate garments in the wash such as bras and knickers.
Wash 35 degree with prewash for heavy dirty loads; otherwise wash 35 degree as normal. No Bleach. No Softeners. No Pure soap. No Rash Cream required.
Tumble dry the nappies is not necessary, but if you wish to then you can do it on a low heat. Or just hang to dry. Never dry on high heat.
GreenPomelo® can either be wash on its own or place in a mesh bag. A mesh bag contained within the bucket will make transferring the nappies easier - but make sure that the bag is left open so that the nappies can be released into the wash!
Using too much detergent will
simply make your reusable nappies stiff and the build up of residue may lead to
smelly nappies and nappy rash. If you can see soap suds in the machine during
the final rinse, then you have used too much powder.
You should avoid fabric conditioner when washing real nappies, as
this can affect the absorbency of the nappies and may lead to skin irritations.
